SUMMER OUTINGS PROGRAMME 2015 ARCHIVE

Except for the end of season Dinner, the Tuesday meetings are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. but please assemble a little earlier at the indicated places. There's no limit on numbers but please car-share wherever possible as it often makes parking a little easier. Most evenings involves a walk (usually not more than 2 miles) with interesting photo- opportunities and finish no later than 9 o'clock with a trip to a local hostelry.

• Thursday 14th May 6 pm for 6.30: End of Season Dinner
  Held at the Sparks Restaurant in the Sheffield City College – super meal at a great price. Bar available. Partners welcome. Pre-Booking with John Ferretti is essential, plus deposit.

• Saturday 16th May: Day trip to National Memorial Arboretum and Lichfield Leader Richard Hall (07849 262886)
  Assemble at 8 am on Abbeydale Road South, at the BUS STOP beside the Millhouses Park opposite Dobcroft Road. There is lots of free parking on the main road. Arrive at National Memorial Arboretum at 9.30am then move to Lichfield for the afternoon. Back in Sheffield at around 6 pm.

• Tuesday 19th May 7 pm: Beauchief Abbey & Surrounds Leader Graham Southgate
  Meet at the gate to the Abbey on Beauchief Abbey Lane. Limited parking space is available on the Lane (leads from Abbey Lane to the Abbey). Good footwear is required. The Abbey (maybe visit inside), pond life, possible bluebells, and about 2 miles walk with thirst quenching at Beauchief Hotel afterwards.

• Tuesday 2nd June 7 pm: Cressbrook Dale Leader: Stuart Davies (07754 853880)
  Meet by the pub in Litton for a 2 hour walk from Litton into Cressbrook looking at wild flowers and scenery of the limestone dale. Recommend: Good footwear, tripod or similar for low level photography, macro or close focus system. Down the road before dropping into the dale and return by a different route to Litton about 2-3 mile walk. In case of inclement weather we shall have to cancel. There is plenty of roadside parking in the village near the pub and school.

• Tuesday 16th June 7 pm: Emergency Services Museum Leader: Richard Hall (07849 262886).
  Meet at the entrance to the Museum on West Bar, Sheffield. We have been given access to the Museum to take our time and use tripods. Lots of old vehicles and paraphernalia to photograph. SPS visitors must pay the entrance fee £4.50 (£3.50 concession 60+). Pub after TBC.

• Saturday 20th June: Day trip to Chester. Leader Richard Hall (07849 262886).
  Assemble at St Peter’s, Reeny Road, 8.00am for an 8.15am coach departure. Arrive at Chester at 10.15am and depart 4.30pm. It may be possible to drop some members at the Zoo if they wish, please request this well in advance. Back in Sheffield at around 6.30 pm.

• Tuesday 30th June 7 pm: Bradfield. Leader Richard Hall (07849 262886)
  Bradfield village, Parish Church (High Bradfield) and around. Access into the medieval Church has been arranged for 7.15-8.15. Please make a contribution if taking photographs in the Church. Parking in High Bradfield is limited, so please share cars. Meet outside the Old Horns at 7pm and afterwards there for drinks.

• Saturday 11th July: Yorkshire Wildlife Park. Leader: John Gorman
  Meet at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park, Doncaster, by the Safari Cafe at 11.30 am, or just turn up at the Park anytime during the day. Make your own way there and pay your own entrance. You may wish to share transport.

• Tuesday 14th July 7 pm: “Old Sheffield”. Leader:Peter Mason
  A walk round the centre of Sheffield showing and photograph some of the old buildings that have survived the best efforts of the Luftwaffe and sixties town planning - it makes a change from urban graffiti! Park anywhere near the centre and meet at the Winter Gardens, Tudor Square end. Some interesting bits to look at and little used alleyways to wander down. Likely to end up at one of the real ale pubs near Kelham Island.

• Tuesday 28th July 7 pm: "Around Millstone Edge". Leader: Frank Milner
  A walk of about 2 miles, not very strenuous but some uphill bits so boots or good walking shoes needed. Millstones, quarry, rock formations, silver Birches, landscapes. Meet at Surprise View Car Park off the A6187 between Fox House and Hathersage. Grid Ref. SK 252 801. (In case of inclement weather we shall have to cancel.) Drinks after at The Millstone Inn.

During the course of the next few months members may come up with information about 'open days', re-enactments, special events etc. which may well be of photographic interest to members. Watch this website and/or announcements at Society meetings.
